Slurry Electromagnetic Separator Reduces Iron Impurities to PPM Level for High-Purity Photovoltaic Quartz Sand

In June 2026, a domestic photovoltaic material enterprise completed the upgrading of its 150,000-ton high-purity quartz sand production line. The raw ore contains a large amount of hematite, magnetite and other magnetic impurities, resulting in unqualified whiteness of finished quartz sand. The project adopts a multi-stage series configuration of slurry electromagnetic separators, paired with a scrubbing production line to remove fine weak magnetic impurities through gradient magnetic field adsorption. After commissioning, the iron impurity content of quartz sand is stably controlled below 50ppm, and the whiteness is increased to more than 94%, fully meeting the material standards for photovoltaic cover glass and TFT substrates. The equipment maintains stable operation without magnetic attenuation for a long time. Automatic operation reduces labor costs by 40% and increases the finished product qualification rate by 12%. This solution has become a mainstream purification configuration for domestic photovoltaic quartz sand production, with 3 new production line orders obtained in June.
