In June 2026, a silicon micro-powder enterprise in northwest China was restricted by arid regional conditions and unable to build wet purification production lines. The dry-ground silicon powder was mixed with mechanical wear iron and magnetic mineral impurities, failing to reach electronic-grade purity standards. The enterprise installed a dry powder electromagnetic separator at the rear end of the milling process. Equipped with variable-frequency uniform feeding and high-strength magnetic field sorting technology, the equipment efficiently adsorbs fine iron impurities and ensures smooth discharge of non-magnetic materials. The whole process requires no water, eliminating pulping, filter pressing and drying procedures and reducing floor space by 50%. After operation, the iron content of silicon micro-powder is controlled ≤0.08%, reaching electronic-grade purity, which can be widely used in epoxy casting materials and electronic packaging fillers. The equipment has operated stably for 18 months with 35% lower operation and maintenance costs, becoming a benchmark for dry powder iron removal in the northwest region.
